Zappa in a special room
Not once or twice I wrote on his blog that I'm a fan of Frank Zappa . As an avid Francophile collect not only record but also films related to it. Recently, my collection grew by concert dvd " The Dub Room Special ." It is very valuable prey, that originally (in 1982) was taken vis was only available mail order for members of the American fan club. The DVD version came out only in 2005.
film is a compilation of recordings from two concerts. The first took place at KCET Studios in Los Angeles in August 1974, the second in New York's Palladium in October 1981.
Repertuar koncertu z LA oparty jest głównie o utwory from the albums "Apostrophe (')" and "Over-Nite Sensation", but do not run a piece of "Florentine Pogen" which is a vocal show of Mr. Brock.
band from the eighties is a completely different story. Zappa then gathered a group of extremely talented musicians, of which the foreground stand out Bobby Martin (vocals, saxophone, keyboards), great drummer Chad Wackerman and then -old Steve Vai , today declared a star guitar sweep. It is noteworthy that the implementation of "Steve's Spanking", where a young Vai gives the game show guitar. Repertoire is dominated by compositions from the late 70's and 80's, such as "Cocaine Decisions", "Flakes" and said early on track talking about how Steve V. playing with one ... lady.
Playing live is absurd interspersed with scenes from the recording room, where viewers have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the specific sense of humor Zappa. So we have a piece of Italian song, in which the body of his lyrical singing przyrodzeniu, some pierdów of modern technology and a little animation, recording plastelinowych humanoids - like the fragments of the film "Uncle Meat. " It is generally fun, although some scenes may pass in some circles as distasteful.
Fantastic video. As a Francophile I am extremely pleased that at last I managed to watch "The Dub Room Special." And as that now stands on the shelf will yet again will stay in my player.
following track, "Stinkfoot" of the described movie.
