My 10 favorite albums of 2010
like rankings of "Best album of the year ..." or "best films of the decade." I love this statement and as much as strange that so far did not present takowego statement. There were several reasons, no matter what. The important thing is that I decided to catch up arrears, the more that the previous year was, despite appearances, and various shades narzekaniom malcontents, a very successful period, when it comes to making music. The direct inspiration for the creation of the following statement was similar rank, who on his blog posted by my colleague Stephen Sękowski.
criteria that I chose were simple. Plate I had to please, be my frequently listened to and have that "something" which will, despite the passing years I thought that is worthy of attention. And of course had to be delivered the 2010 calendar year.
start from the end:)
10th Hypnos 69 " Legacy" - About this album I have written previously , so I will not be repeated.
9th Sully Erna " Avalon" - Perhaps the biggest surprise of last year. Sully Erna, lead singer of Godsmack released a solo album. Music, who has filled this album was far away stylistically from the achievements of its parent group of American music. In contrast to the succulent, aggressive, driving rock, with which we have the pleasure to interact on CDs Godsmack Erna offered us something else. Calm album, filled with the vast majority of music inspired by folk and achievements of such bands as Dead Can Dance or Cocetau Twins. It is interesting that in 2010, Godsmack also released a new album, "The Oracle", nota bene very good. However, taking into account the solo work of singer nietuzinkowość this worthy band, it is "Avalon" went on my list.
8th Grinderman - Grinderman 2 "- the plus big surprise. I liked the very first edition Grindermana, But on the second disc Nick Cave and the company recalled the spirit of early Australian recordings. And best of these discs as "Let Love In" or "Henry's Dream." Again, we have zbastardyzowanego blues, sharp guitars, rock defiance, and Cave, who has long had he felt so good. Shivers go down my spine.
7th Armored Saint " La Raza" - Reloaded years later. John Bush, after years spent in the band Anthrax returned to its proper place. Heavy metal, some thrash, flair in the game, the energy and melodies. Railways big surprise. Armored Sant This was always a team drugoligowy, after years proved that they have to offer much more than the creator of internationally recognized.
6th Killing Joke "Absolute Dissent" - For thirty years Killing Joke is an extremely important band. One of the founders of post-punk, mixing in his musical melting pot of the elements of industrial, metal and even pop. Over the past ten years, Jaz Coleman with his colleagues released only three CDs, but each of them deserves the highest scores. Despite the passage of years still get them to work, which are determinant for the crowd of followers. Anyway, listen up ...
5th Atheist " Jupiter" - Reloaded, after several years of silence. The team, which was one of the creators of mainstream-called technical death metal (or jazz-metal, shit really knows how to play call them) came back with a plate, which swept me. I love these technical riffs included in the twisted jazz scales, jagged rhythms, strange transition. It's a difficult music. Not suitable for trail or melancholy bieszczadzki sipping water at the fire. This is a kick straight into the brain. It should give you a kick.
4th NEVERMORE "The Obsidian Conspiracy" - It's always been a good team, but "The Obsidian Conspiracy" surprised me. Group left in the past few years several excellent musicians (including guitarist joined the ranks of Megadeth), and yet they managed to record the best metal album of last year. Technical playing, fleshy riffs ... interesting lyrics. CD devoted to conspiracies in the world. For the presentation I chose the song "The Termination Proclamation," which discusses issues of eugenics and abortion.
third Lunatic Soul II Soul Lunatic "- The second album of solo projects by Mariusz Duda, vocalist Riverside. Beautiful album reviewers spirit of the best in progressive rock. About this you should not write, you just have to listen. In general, end of the year was amazing in terms of outstanding albums. From the last quarter from the podium of my entire statement.
second Swans' My Father Will Guide Me Up A Rope To The Sky - Gira Miachael a genius. Somewhat forgotten, but the fact remains that he is a prominent figure. In the 80s of the twentieth century visionary mowing competition CD "Children Of God", later often frequented role model for young artists. After twelve years of break Swans returned an incredible mix of punk and industrial, mixed with pop. The dark vision of the world, dressed in amazing sound. I want more ...
first Young Gods " Everybody Knows" - I always get angry when a friend extolled the Young Gods, and I hear you ask "what is it?". Although the band performs regularly in our country, it remains unknown to a wide audience. Too bad. The music of this trio is a Swiss, as in the past wrote one critic, "the moment when Stravinsky meets Metallica." Gods of industrial work in Switzerland for nearly 25 years, their twelfth studio album. Beauty mixed with ugliness, with the delicacy of aggression. Like so many of the game, but only one young gods.
Finally, a dual Grand Prix - for their perseverance, not looking for fashion, immortality, and in spite of being. Motorhead "The World Is Yours" (you know that Lemmy turned 65 years old and still playing loud rock and roll?) And the Cult of "MTV Unplugged . "
And now for something completely different. Disappointment of the year. For the year 2010 unquestionably admit it's doubtful the album trophy, "The Final Frontier" Team Iron Maiden. The album should be titled The Final Shit "and it is more suited to its content. Parówkowym skrytożercom say: NO!
PS Maybe it was not a record of the year, but quite often I listened to the group's debut album Lublin Fifty Foot Woman. A good piece of Stoner. About the same album, I wrote in this space .
